Blessed are you, LORD our God, King of the universe, who charges us to tend your handiwork:

Please give us your sabbath peace in our ties with each other and the fallen world around us; that we humble ourselves in this litany as the tax collector and repent when we scorn as the Pharisee.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner!

Help us see why money is a cause for many evils, but teach us how to make it a source for good, that we offer respite instead of adding to the hardship of people also made in your image.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner!

Guide us to employ our riches to free the poor instead of pushing them further into their cycles of poverty; may we use our resources to create more lenders until no borrowers are left in our neighborhoods.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner!

Teach us not only how to avoid the conquest of evil in our own lives but also how to overwhelm evil with good in the realities of our neighbors so that we defeat systems of exploitation, injustice, and poverty.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner!

We offer these prayers through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Amen.
